AI Usage Policy
Mises Journal adopts a clear policy regarding the use of artificial intelligence technologies: authors who utilize generative AI tools during the preparation of their manuscripts must declare their use upon submission. The journal recognizes the benefits of these technologies as assistants for optimizing research and writing but emphasizes that they are a means of support, not a substitute for critical analysis and human expertise. Therefore, all use of AI must be conducted under the researcher's strict supervision.
The ultimate responsibility for every aspect of the published work lies entirely with the author. This means the author must meticulously verify the accuracy of any information generated by AI—including checking for fabricated references—and edit the text to ensure it represents their genuine intellectual contribution. AI tools cannot be cited as authors, as authorship is a function that only human beings can perform.
Statement on the Use of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Writing Process
This declaration must be formalized in a specific section at the end of the article, before the reference list, detailing which tool was used and for what purpose, and affirming that the author assumes full responsibility for the content. Basic tools, such as spell and grammar checkers, are exempt from this requirement.
It is crucial to note that, to protect the integrity of the review process, the journal currently prohibits its reviewers and editors from using any type of generative AI in the evaluation of manuscripts.
