The following article presents a prescient and balanced look at the errors of the old conservative critique of libertarianism grounded on the belief that liberals deny a moral order existence based on God and they are champions of relativism, pragmatism and materialism. While criticizing Frank S. Mayer’s and M. Stanton Evans’ fusionist proposal, the author demonstrates conservatism’s vulnerability to the statist temptation of some conservatives.
